I'm ashamed to say.......I'm out of wine!

The other night I had a seriously creepy dream.  Adam and myself were in a desert somewhere and we were with a group of people.  We were looking at all of this exotic wildlife; elephants, camels, etc.  All of a sudden there was a huge "BOOM" and everything turned white.  About that time someone screamed, "it's an atomic bomb!" and sure enough there was a huge mushroom cloud looming over us.  All I could think to do was hug Adam as tightly as possible.  Then, it was over.  I woke up totally freaked out.  Later that morning, with the dream still haunting me after 2 cups of coffee, I decided to look up the meaning on the A-Z Dream Dictionary.  Basically the dictionary said that I was experiencing some "strong hostility and rage."  I told Adam and he said that wasn't true, but I got to thinking that maybe I am experiencing some hostility and rage.  Not that I don't love my life; I've been blessed with a beautiful son whom I absolutely adore, I have a great husband who loves me and puts up with a lot of sh*t at times, an awesome family, and great friends.  But, as with most people, things do piss me off, some more than others.  This is definitely one of those nights where things are pissing me off.  I'm out of wine (what am I thinking??), and need to vent.  Here goes:
  • Facebook is seriously wearing me out.  Some of the people on there annoy the hell out of me.  Some days I really want to deactivate my account.  Too bad I won't.
  • I'm so sick of selfish people.  Why do I feel that I am constantly the one that's there for everyone else, and feel like there's only a handful of people that are there for me?  Over it!
  • Also, if I call you, write you an email, send you a text, or etc. to show you that I care and am thinking about you, I expect some sort of reply back.  Even if it's only a text to say thank you.  What happened to manners, people??  Even the days that I don't feel like responding to a phone call, email, text, facebook comment, etc., I always do because it's just rude not to.
  • Also, if I am contacting you wanting to offer you my business (AKA $$), and you still can't call me back, that's just lazy.  Won't be calling you again!
  • And one last thing: Just because I'm somebody's mother does not automatically make me boring or not worthy of a good time.  You know who you are!
That's all.  Thanks for putting up with me tonight.  Off to enjoy a glass of OJ minus the Vodka because I'm out of that, too!

Catching Up

I cannot believe summer is almost over.  Where did the time go??  It seems like just yesterday I was as huge as a hot air balloon seriously anticipating the arrival of summer; now, my son is 4 months old and I can see the end of pool weather drawing near.  Can I tell you a secret?  I'm not so sad about it.  Honestly, I've had my fill of the hot and sticky, the mosquito bites, and the upper-lip sweat.  Just sayin'!  There's something about fall that's just a little magical.  Maybe it's college football; trust me, I'm not one of the girls screaming at the TV with the guys about a "line of scrimmage;" I'm way more interested in finding the perfect red/black ensemble, and partaking in the buffalo chicken dip and pigs in a blanket.  Maybe it's the cooler weather and less-frizzy hair days.  Or maybe it's simply the fact that Christmas is just right around the corner, and who doesn't love presents and spiked egg nog?  Looking forward to sharing my favorite time of year with Aaron.  I hope he finds it as magical as I do.

This weekend is already busy and I'm already exhausted just thinking about it.  Tonight is dinner with friends/kids.  Nice and low-key.  Tomorrow is going to be a bulldozer.  Griffin, my hometown, is throwing their welcome home ceremony for the troops, followed by a luncheon for the soldier's families.  After that, Adam, Aaron, and myself are hopping back in the car to hurry back home for Adam's parents annual Bolingbroke Southern Jam celebration.  It's like a much smaller ATL version of "Big Day Out."  There's bands, food, and beer (although you gotta bring your own refreshing beverage).  All of the money goes to a charity, and it's just a lot of fun!  Last year during the jam, I was 6 weeks pregnant, nauseated, and so not enjoying myself.  Here's to a much better time this year!

What are your plans this weekend?

Beach Trip 2010

Hope everyone had a fantastic 4th and enjoyed their long weekend!  We spent the beautiful day floating around Adam's parents pool, beer and fruity drinks in hand.  Aaron only made it about 30 minutes before passing out in his blue car float ( I know the feeling, baby).

We stuffed ourselves with hot dogs, hamburgers, chips, dips, pasta salads, veggies, and a Boston Butt for dinner.  Whew!  I'm stuffed just thinking about it!  Now back to the real world of health and fitness......

Before I share some pictures of our family vacation to St. Simons, I have to ask: Are you a Bethany Frankel fan ( Real Housewives of NYC)?  I personally love her!  Last year, I bought her first book, Naturally Thin: Unleash Your Skinny Girl, and I enjoyed her whole motto of not dieting.  Basically, in the book she points out that the most important thing in life is to be healthy.  Some of her chapters and phrases include: Check yourself before you wreck yourself, Treat your food intake like you would treat your bank account, Taste everything, eat nothing, and etc.  Anyhow, it's a great book, and instead of telling you how to diet and what to eat, she tells you how to eat without depriving yourself of life's greatest luxury- delicious food!  Being such a huge fan of hers, and needing to do something other than watching my food intake to lose these last 15 Lbs of baby weight, I purchased her yoga DVD: Body By Bethenny with Bethenny Frankel

Body By Bethenny with Bethenny Frankel

I'm super excited to get this DVD, and really start working on losing this extra poundage.  Having a baby is one of God's greatest gifts, but your body after wards (unless you're Giselle), is not so great!

Now, onto some fun stuff!  My parents, my sister, Adam, Aaron, and myself just got back from a relaxing vacay in St. Simons.  Although the weather was not the greatest (mostly overcast the whole time we were there), we were lucky enough to stay in a fabulous house in Sea Island in a subdivision called the Island Club.  Here's a couple of pictures:

Loved our pool and hot tub!

Here are a few pics of us at the beach and pool:

We had a wonderful time!  Looking forward to family vacation 2011!

First Family Photo Shoot

This past Saturday was our first family photo shoot with Graceology Photography.  Graceology has been with us for awhile; they first took me and Adam's engagement and wedding photos back in 2007.  The owners, Heather, a dear friend of mine, and her hubby, Chris, never cease to amaze me with their awesome shots; whether posed or natural they always seem to bring out the best moments in time.  I have to be honest though, I was worried about how this photo shoot was going to go.  I knew the pictures were going to be beautiful, however; the Georgia heat was a little unbearable this weekend, and our photo shoot was taking place outside at Adam's parent's home with a 3 month old.  I can now say that the worrying was completely a waste of time!  Luckily, Aaron loves the camera (like his momma) and was the best little model!  Although we were constantly wiping sweat from our faces, and jumping in Heather and Chris' Explorer for a little AC between locations, we had the best time!  Here's a few of their wonderful shots:

Jumping in the pool at the end of the shoot in my dress; if you know me and know how prissy I am, you know that I had to be hot to do this!

First Haircut!

As promised, here are some of my baby boy's first haircut pictures. Still cannot believe my 3 month old already had to get his hair chopped! Poor thing, he got my massive amount of hair and cowlick on the top of his sweet baby head- not such a good thing. He will forever be working on it, cutting it, styling it, and etc. Here's to the next 40 years of crazy hair, buggy!

Sorry these pictures are in a mush, but you can see the finished product. Love his little boy haircut and love my boo!

Life is......

The other day during Aaron's nap time I was working on his scrapbook, and came across one of the sweetest, truest quotes I have ever read:

"While we try to teach our children all about life, our children teach us what life is all about." ~Angela Schwindt

I immediately wrote the quote down and pasted it in his scrapbook. Although I am not exactly sure who Angela Schwindt is, it was the perfect way to describe how I am feeling these days. I feel as if I have been waiting for Aar
on my whole life. I have never been so happy to see a tiny face smile at me in the morning when I get him out of his crib, or babble out loud for 30 minutes straight while sitting in my lap, or even bury his face in my neck when he's tired. My heart literally melts every day! My child will be 3 months old tomorrow and time is flying. Something new is learned every day and I am amazed by every thing that Aaron does. This really is what life is all about.

Aaron is getting his first haircut today! I know, a 3 month old- crazy. Anyhow, I'll be posting pics of the new do. This is what we're working with currently:

Needless to say, I will have a bottle and Tylenol in tow for this trip. Wish us luck!

A Baby Story

Wow. In the words of one of the worst bands in history, "it's been awhile." In the past two months since I last updated there have been some big changes; the biggest change being that I am now a mom to a beautiful baby boy! On March 17, 2010 at 2:15 pm (Yes a St. Paddy's day baby. Imagine his 21st birthday- thanks Karma!) my little was man was born and weighed in 7 lb 13 oz. He has a head full of dark hair, his dad's eyes and forehead, and my lips and chin. He is the most precious, wonderful, perfect thing I have ever laid my eyes on, and I could not be more in love with him!
I'm going to try to make the birth story as short as possible, considering what a huge ordeal it felt like. Before I start, let me just preface this story by saying that medication is good. Here goes:

I went into labor around 7:30 pm on Tuesday, March 16th. I had just stuffed myself with a Wendy's bacon and cheese baked potato (it's the fire, by the way) and was watching The Daily 10 in my favorite stretchy pants. All of a sudden, I felt a sharp cramp; the kind of cramp that makes you say "ow!" out loud. Cut to forty-five minutes later and here comes another one. That's when I knew this show was finally on the road. By 12:30 AM my contractions were five minutes apart, so me and Adam, and my mom and sister headed to the Medical Center. I was finally put in a birthing suite around 5 AM after being in OB Assessment since 1 AM. Fun times, people. I was dead tired, Adam was dead tired, and yet we were both so nervous and anxious. Luckily, I was cured with a little E! and some wonderful paid meds once we got to our birthing suite. After sleeping for almost an hour my contractions started picking it up again, and were getting closer and closer. This is when the real fun began, folks. You see, I was having regular contractions, but I was not dilating. My doc had ordered the nurse to put some Pitocin in my IV drip to make the contractions faster so I would dilate past 2 cm. It worked. Within an hour of clutching the bed rails in pain, and practicing my breathing techniques with Adam, and my nurse, Gigi, I finally went from 2 cm to 4 cm. I got my epidural around 9 AM. Never in my life have I been so excited to get a needle stuck in my back! FYI: don't be scared of an epidural. They are marvelous. I'm just going to put it out there and say, there is no pain like the pain of a contraction. You women who do it naturally, I give you props! Anyhow, I was feeling so very lovely and wonderful until about 12:30 pm: I was 10 cm and it was time to start the delivery process. My labor was crazy; the first hour of pushing I was watching Keeping Up With the Kardashians and checking Facebook; the last 45 minutes of pushing my epidural had been turned down, and I could feel my contractions coming. Between crying and asking the doctor to "please get a vacuum and get him out of me!" I thought I would never make it. Finally at 2:15, after and hour and forty-five minutes of pushing, Aaron Adam Mosely was born! He came out screaming and urinating every where! As soon as he was placed on my stomach he stopped crying and looked at me like: "oh, there you are, mom." It was truly the best moment of my life. I cannot put into words the love that I feel for my son; it was truly the most powerful, wonderful love I have ever experienced. My life now feels utterly complete.

With all of that being said, in between spit-up mishaps, Diaper Genie malfunctions, and Gymboree points, I am going to try to update this blog as much as possible. Although I am running on 4 hours of sleep these days, and my coffee maker is my new best friend, I am so grateful for everything: under eye bags and all. Here's to parenthood- it's going to be a wild ride!!
