New York, New Yooooork!

Wow, this week is flying by!  That's surprising considering we leave for our big anniversary trip tomorrow, and usually the week before a big trip seriously drags by.  I haven't blogged much at all this week, but between visiting the lady doc Tuesday (blah.....hate those visits) and Christmas shopping yesterday, my writing inspiration has been zapped.  Today, however, is a different day!

Our flight leaves for NYC at 12:30 tomorrow- whoop!  I could not be more excited.  The last time I was in New York was in 2003, and Adam's never been.  Last night he surprised me with tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera Saturday night.  SO pumped!!  I saw Phantom back in '03 and it was amazing.  I can't wait to see it again.  Thinking about it now, I totally think Adam surprised me with the tickets because he knew we'd most likely be in a pub watching the SEC Championship game Saturday afternoon, and he needed to butter me up.  Well honey, you did good!  Other than that, the rest of our weekend will be consumed with sight-seeing, eating lots of yummy food, and soaking up as much of New York as we can!  We're staying on Times Square, so luckily we'll be in the middle of it all.  I definitely want to go and reenact the Serendipity ice-skating scene at Wollman Rink in Central Park.  Poor Adam...

As for my NYC wardrobe, I'm going simple for the day.  Long-sleeve shirts, denim jeggings, colorful scarfs, and my Uggs.  It's just too damn cold to be all "sex in the city."  Saturday night, for our big "theatah" outing, I'm wearing my leather-coated leggings from Fab'rik, and my silky black tunic blouse with black wedges.  I still need to pick out jewelry-aghhh!

As soon as we get back Sunday afternoon, we have a photo shoot with my husband's side of the family.  Thirteen adults, three kids.  Whoa, I'm tired just thinking about it.  When it rains it pours!

Gotta go iron now!  Happy Weekend, y'all!!

Oh.Em. Gee.

Before I even begin, can we count the number of things wrong with this picture??

Ohhh Britney.......where do I even start?

People has this picture on their Star Tracks slideshow today.  I could say that I'm shocked, but I'm not.  The only thing cute about this picture are Tater Tot and Small Fry.  And look, they're growing up!

Britney (and Jamie Lynn) on the other hand?  This is not good, y'all.

Britney is modeling what looks like a summer ensemble from Roses.  The too-tight sleeveless button-down and the vomit-colored denim shorts (hello?) look like they were purchased for a total of $12.99.  I love me some outlet stores, but if I'm going cheap it's going to at least look like I paid a penny for it.  And what's up with that wig?  Girl, get your stylist to straighten out those extensions and pull it back into a nice pony.  Now I'm not claiming to be some fashion connoisseur, but I know if I'm going out in public (even if it is to Walmart) I'm going to have on some pants that cover my ass, and a shirt that covers these girls up.

Jamie Lynn?  Geez.  The shirt would be cute with skinnies/jeggings and flats.....not Uggs.  Which brings me to my next two questions: 1) Who said it would look great if you paired your Uggs with denim cutoffs?; and  2) Is it really that much hotter in LA than everywhere else?
(FYI: I just searched weather.com and LA's High is 64 degrees.  Way too damn cold for booty shorts.  Bam.)

Britney, I am begging you.  Hire me to be your stylist!!  I would have you rocking jeggings, a long tunic with a scarf, and flats so fast you'd be giving Kate Middleton a run for her money.  Let's make this happen.

In other Monday news, it's time for our Dead Recap!  What what.
  • Michonne joined our favorite gang of Apocalypse survivors and Carol came back from the dead (or more like a prison cell).
  • Andrea is already totally obsessed with The Guv'nah.  Shocker.
  • Guy with glasses (forgot his name) thinks he can cure a zombie.  He learned his lesson....thanks to Andrea.  At least she's good for something.
  • Okay, I admit.  Merle's a psycho.  But if people would just answer his questions they wouldn't be put in the awful situations they're in: Glen and Maggie duct taped to chairs; Glen having to kill a zombie while stuck to a chair (impressive); Maggie almost getting raped while being stuck to a table.  Sorry, I would just tell Woodbury and company where Rick and camp are.  Baby Judith would be able to live safely (somewhat), Rick and the Guv'nah (as well as Daryl and Merle) could hash it out, and Michonne would just kill everybody.
Blah, blah, blah.  Last night was boring.  And honestly, I found myself checking my Twitter feed through the last 15 minutes of the show and I kinda don't know what else happened. Rut-roh.

I'll be better next Sunday!

What is & what use to be

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!  I am "Thanksgiving'd out" as far as food goes.  I have consumed more ham, broccoli and rice casserole, dressing, and pecan pie than one should consume in a whole year.  I have probably gained at least a pound a day since last Thursday, and I have a bridesmaid dress to fit into in um, 20 days.  So begins the holiday fast...at least until December 15th. ;)

You know those moments when you see a picture and it reminds you of your past?  I'm having major nostalgia this morning.  Although I'm from Griffin, and many of my childhood best friends live there and in the Atlanta area, I also have a great group of friends in Macon where I have currently lived for going on 6 years.

When I started dating Adam in 2005, I inherited all of these great people.  We were all fast friends, and spent most weekends (heck, many weeknights) at the local bar, CJ's, and sometimes (my fave bar in downtown Macon), The Hummingbird.  We spent time at each others homes, hanging out, going to dinner, spending random Sunday afternoons together.  I miss those days.  All of these bittersweet memories came rushing back to me this morning as I looked at Facebook photos of these girls at our annual Christmas dinner.  Many of us couldn't go because we didn't have childcare, some were out of town, some had family obligations, etc.

We're definitely not as close as we use to be, and some days it breaks my heart (like today).  People grow apart, this is very true.  Things change, people change.  You grow up, you have babies, you move away.  There are several factors that cause people to drift apart, I don't believe it's just one single person or one single factor.

My mama always told me growing up that as you get older your circle of close friends gets smaller.  I'm so blessed in the fact that I have two circles of close friends: one that consists of my Griffin/Atlanta loves, and one that consists of my Macon loves.  All of you know who you are and how dear you are to my heart.

I guess the point of this post is to just say that life goes on.  I understand that now.  And although it's sad, that's the way it is.  Maybe one day we'll all be close again.  But if not, that's okay.  I'll always have my memories and they'll always be a special place in my heart for those good ole days. :)

One more thing.....

That I'm thankful for this year??!  My newly discovered love for......

JHutch!

And his fantastic jaw line, and the way he wears a t-shirt, and his Peeta blonde hair (although I totally dig his brunette locks, too)......the list goes on.....

I'm 30.  What's wrong with me?  Oh well, if you can't express your cougar love on your blog, where can you??!

Here is that sweet doll baby in an MTV interview.  Tell me you don't think he's adorbs.
And for the last time, Happy Thanksgiving!! ~LL

Blessings

Is it just me or does Thanksgiving feel different this year?  Most of all, the upcoming holidays have a totally different feel for me.  I feel happier, healthier, and more excited about what God has in store for me and my family.

This time last year, tomorrow to be exact, was when I found out our second son had a heart condition.  You can read more about that here.  I'll never forget that day; going from the excitement of finding out we had been blessed with another boy to finding out he had a sick heart.  It was a little over a week later that we found out he had Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome.  Basically, the left side of his heart never grew; my baby had half of a heart.  Upon hearing this diagnosis, we were in utter shock and despair.  How did this happen?  What did I do wrong?  Of course, there was nothing I did wrong, it was just a rare "thing" that happened; that's what the Doctors told me anyway.

We had named him Luke.  His brother has a strong biblical name, and we felt like our second son should, too.  Our sweet Luke went to Heaven Tuesday, December 13th 2011.  Although my heart will forever mourn his presence, I know he's in Heaven.  I know he's healthy and whole, and I know he's surrounded by love.  I also know that I'll get to meet him one day and that is amazing.

I know these holidays will be different for all of us.  Last year, I went through the motions of Thanksgiving and Christmas.  I pretended to be happy because I had to for Aaron.  Aaron needed his mommy, and I needed him so badly.  Thank God for my sweet, beautiful, rambunctious Aaron Mo.  He is the best thing I've ever done, and the biggest blessing God has ever given me.  I know God will bless us with another healthy child when the time is right.  But for now, and every day of my life, I'll be thankful for this child.

Enjoy your Thanksgiving with your loved ones!!

I need another cup of coffee

It's Monday, y'all.  Blah.  Luckily, it's Thanksgiving week so it's a short week- whoop!

Yesterday, Adam and I scored some free last-minute tickets to see the Atlanta Falcons play and other than the two-mile walk to/from our car, we had a blast.  My awesome in-laws kept Aaron Mo all day so we could go, and it was some much-needed time away.  I am no football fan, nor have I ever claimed to be.  However, yesterday I was standing up screaming, jumping up and down, and high-fiving all the other fans around me like I was Falcons Fan Numero Uno.  It probably helped that I had three Bud Lights and a serious buzz.  I also didn't mind the fact that during breaks in the game they broke out some old school Luda, because hello?!  What's better than hearing "Move B--ch" after a touchdown?  Classic.  We ended the game by getting a funnel cake with powdered sugar AND chocolate syrup on top, which I'm positive blew my calories for the week.  It was absolutely worth it.

I think we all know what today is.  Walking Dead recap time.  Here goes:
  • The person on the phone was really Rick's imagination.  No big surprise there.  I kinda figured in the end it would be "Lori" snapping Rick out of his funk and telling him to get his act together.  I think it's safe to say he's back....thoughts?
  • I am officially a Michonne fan.....even though she's crazy.  As Hell.  She saved that box of formula (we all know how expensive that junk is!), and pretended to be a walker with zombie guts splashed all over her.  Impressive.
  • Can I just say that as long as you don't piss Merle off he's your greatest ally?  When are these people gonna learn??
  • The Gov'nah and Andrea got it on.  Shocker.  Single lady in a Zombie Apocalypse- what what!
  • Carol is not dead and Daryl saved her.  Again....shocker.  Are we seeing a parallel (yeah, I just said that) between the Lori/Carl mother/son relationship with Carol/Daryl?  I think Daryl thinks of Carol as a mother figure, especially with him telling Carl the story of his mother's death.  And again let's just put it out there: Daryl's hot.  End of story.
It's going to be interesting to see the Michonne/Rick dynamic.  Also, when Andrea was getting her booty call, and they heard that knock at the door, did y'all SO think that was The Governor's walker daughter?  Would that not have been hilarious??

Enjoy your Monday, folks!

Just call me Pizza Face

Well, it's official.  I've entered middle school again.  (Disclaimer: this blog entry is all over the place.)

I have 4 zits on my face right this minute.  Wth??  I'm actually down from 5 so I guess it's getting better.  What is going on?

Before I continue, let me give you some background: I'm blessed in that I have pretty good skin.  I rarely break out, and when I do it's like one pesky little pimple and we move on.  This week?  I literally woke up Sunday morning with three zits.  Monday?  I woke up with two more.  Now, Saturday night was a biggie.  I met my future lovah, drank like a fish, and smoked (well more like "pretended" to smoke) 2 cigarettes.  I'm sure my body/skin had no idea how to respond to the smoking, wine/liquor/beer combination since I usually can't drink but one big glass of red wine without passing out within the hour.  However, this crater face I'm sporting is a little ridonk.  I have a blemish underneath my right eye (how did that happen?), one on my cheek (again, how did that happen?), one under my nose, and two on my chin.  I've scrubbed, masked, toned, etc. all week and only one has disappeared.  I even went and bought boxed hair color and turned my whole head into a color that resembles a banana peel (Garnier Honey Butter, my ass) to try to distract from the face and have done nothing but caused more attention to it (and reminded me that when I go blonde I must be tan).

To sum it all up, I told Adam that I obviously need this for Christmas:

This Clarisonic Mia 2.  Thoughts?  Have you used this before?  Is it a miracle performer?

We'll see...

I was going to post yesterday, but I was exhausted from little sleep, and suffering a major love hangover over RPatty after going to see the 10pm screening of Breaking Dawn 2 Thursday night.  The best thing I can say: it was so fabulously cheesy and I loved every second of it!

Enjoy your Saturday!

Twilight Thursday

Tonight is Breaking Dawn premiere night.  I am pumped.  My girlfriends and I are going to the 10 pm showing at Tinseltown and I honestly don't know what I'm going to do with myself for the next 9 hours.  Torturous.  I'm also sad that the whole franchise is over.  Where did the time go?  I remember in late 2008 when everyone was talking about "Twilight."  I just didn't see the appeal.....until I finally picked the book up in December 2008.  Whoa.  At the time I was working as a Financial Aid Counselor at a local college, and in between working and lunching, I read.  I could not put the book down!  Luckily, the staff was given a two-week Christmas holiday, and between Christmas presents/money I was able to buy the next 3 books (which were, I swear, like 500 pages each) and finished the next 3 within 7 days.  That's how crazy I was.  I remember I finished Breaking Dawn New Years Day and I cried.  Horrible.  I had invested so much time and emotions into those damn books that I was depressed when they were over.  That's when the vampire obsession began.  Cut to late 2011, New Years Eve, when I picked up the third book in the Sookie Stackhouse series and the vampire obsession went from this:

To this:

You're welcome.

I've totally been stalking the Breaking Dawn premiere photos, and although I'm certain she's a hein witch, KStew has been looking pretty fierce thus far.  Exhibit A:

Here she is in Zuhair Murad at the Los Angeles premiere.  I know critics have been off and on about this dress, but I think she looks stunning.  And (I will probably catch flack) LOVE this dress.  I do.  I think it's fabulous.  And, she has the perfect bod for it.  Somebody super curvy (a' la: Kim K, Sofia V, ME!) couldn't pull it off.  It's made for super skinny, straight people, but hello?!  Girlfriend's got bootay!  I'm impressed.  No wonder RPattycake can't stay away. He's an ass-man.  Taking note.  Moving on.

Here she is at last night's premiere in London.  This is my fave:

She looks hot.  Love the lacy, see-through bodysuit.  This is also designed by Zuhair Murad.  It shows just enough in my opinion.  Looks like the days of this are over.  Thank God.

Now, off to catch a nap while my baby naps.  Got a big date tonight. ;)

Tuesday Ramblings

I was so busy yesterday trying to update y'all on celebrity sightings and baby showering, that I forgot to mention one very important thing.........

HAPPY BELATED 32ND BIRTHDAY, RYAN GOSLING!!!
May all your dreams and wishes come true this year....including dumping Eva Mendes, starring as Christian Grey in 50 Shades, and filming a Drive sequel.  Wait- those are my dreams and wishes! ;)  MUAH!!!

Now for our Walking Dead recap:
  • As if I couldn't be more in love/obsessed with Daryl, he went on a frantic search for formula for baby girl, then rushed back to hold her, feed her, and possibly name her.  As Chris Hardwick said on Talking Dead, "I just ovulated."
  • Rick is mental.  I can't decide if I'm surprised or not.  I will say that I'm still quite disturbed over the bloated zombie that consumed Lori; I don't think that picture will ever leave my head.
  • Michonne hightailed it out of "Woodbury."  Thank God.  I really don't think I could have handled another week of that attitude.  Girl, chill and go eat a hot dog.
  • Governor's walker daughter.  O.M.G.  I kinda love her.  Was it just me or did she calm down when the Governor told her to?  Is there still some human lurking around in that zombie brain?
  • I heart Merle.
  • As a side note, Daryl needs to get rid of the poncho.  It's hein.
  • Zombie Fight Club?  Normally I am anti-Andrea as I find her extremely annoying; however, I did find that whole shindig weird.
Okay, something needs to be said so I'm just going to say it.  I'm real stressed by all these people sleeping together in this post-apocalyptic world and their hygiene.   Whenever there is sex involved (Glen and Maggie) all I can think about is, "When did they last bathe?"  I know it's weird but it bothers me.  I mean, have y'all seen them shower since the first season at the CDC?  It seems that while breaking into all these houses they would have found some Bath and Body Works Country Apple shower gel or something, right?

Alright, one last thing.  Let's appreciate how gorge our Robby Patts looked last night at the Breaking Dawn 2 premiere:

Delicious
Word on the street is, KStew's being a biyatch and not letting RPatty touch and/or kiss her.  I say dump her and her cheating arse.  She doesn't deserve him and his amazing head of hair, pretty baby blues, and hot English accent.  Girlfriend is lucky he even took her back.

That's my rant for the day.

Oh, and Aaron has Pink Eye.  Grreeeatt.

Enjoy your afternoon!

Baby Showering

Yesterday we celebrated my dear friend, Natalie's, baby boy who is scheduled to arrive January 4th.  Seven (including myself) of Natalie's family and friends, held the shower at the Baily Tebault house in Griffin.

The shower was wonderful.  Natalie is glowing and gorge.  Everything from the food, guests, and weather were amazing and there was nothing short of pure love, happiness, and excitement over this precious boy.  Here are some pics:

How cute is this cake??

The initials are JDD for sweet James Dailey Davis "Jimmy"

The loot.  And this is before the other 100 presents arrived!

The grub.  Num num num!

One of the mantles.  Do you like my tilted photography?

Here's a shot of me and the beautiful baby mama and another with the hostesses:

Love.

All of the hostesses minus one (we missed you, Jennifer!)

Now we wait.  Natalie has around 7 more weeks to go.  I told her they need to aim for being the first New Years baby so they can make some moolah.  Here's hoping!

"Want a sugar cube?"

Oh my goodness.  So much has happened over the past 48 hours that this blog entry might have to be divided into two.  Wow....where do I start?  From the beginning, folks:

Saturday afternoon me and my Macon girls headed to Atlanta to start the bachelorette festivities for our bride, Jessica. Upon arrival at Atlanta Marriott Midtown (and before the glamming up began) we settled in the lobby to wait for the the rest of the party and have a glass of wine.  While people-watching, we noticed that two big, good-looking, bald men in black sweats walked in together (AKA Bodyguards).  My other friend, Jessica, looked at me and said "what's going on?"  And that's when the first sighting happened.  Sam Claflin.  You may have heard of him.  He's playing Finnick Odair in CATCHING FIRE.....the second installment of THE HUNGER GAMES!  Oh My Jesus.  Here's a Google image:

Before I continue, let me give you some background: I've known exactly who this guy is from the minute they announced the Catching Fire casting.  If you don't already know, I'm obsessed with The Hunger Games.  Well, I'm probably more obsessed with Josh Hutcherson (lovingly known as Peeta), but you can read more about that here.  Anyway, Mr. Claflin is not very well-known, but rest assured, after Catching Fire he will be.  He was also in Snow White and the Huntsman with KStew and her mustache lover and director, Mr. Rupert Sanders.

So while sitting in the lobby, drinking some Pinot Noir, and getting ready to get crunk (yep- I said it) in walks Mr. Claflin.  Looking hot as hell.  Running his fingers through his hair, wearing a scarf, and looking all like a deer in the headlights because he had been caught by the biggest celebrity stalker of all (yours truly).  I was in such shock because here we were, out in Atlanta, me being JHutch/Hunger Games obsessed, and a Catching Fire star walks into the hotel we're staying at.  Craziness. He walked past us and my mouth fell open.  All I could say was, "There's Finnick Odair.  That's Finnick Odair.  Oh my God, that's Finnick Odair."  My sweet friend, Brooke, taking one for the team, walked up to one of the bodyguard's that had lingered behind, and asked him if that was "Finnick Odair." The bodyguard laughed, smiled, and winked at Brooke while nodding his head.  By that point I had recovered and was able to tell Brooke his name was actually Sam Clafllin.  Hilarious.

An hour or so later, after being advised by my oh-so-smart friend, Kristen, that if a celebrity(s) is in a hotel with a bar, they will indeed be hanging out at that bar, we headed to the bar.  (FYI, I just said bar 3 times.)  At this point we were dressed and ready for the evening festivities.  Got to the bar, sat down, ordered a beer, and I'm not even kidding, within fifteen minutes of arrival Brooke nudged me and said "Is that him?"  Sure enough, I looked out into the lobby and there HE was.  Mr. Sam Claflin AKA Finnick.  Holy Moly!  Brooke, taking another one for the team, (she's so fabulous), walked right up to him, and asked him if he would come over and meet us.  (BTW, how adorable is this?  Brooke said to him "I bet you get this all the time.  And he said, no, I really don't."  Agh!  Love him!).  Anyway, I was trying to keep my composure and remain cool (which I am so not) when I could see him making his way over through the bar mirror.  OMG!!!!  Basically, this is how our conversation went from what I remember:

Me:  Hey!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finnick:  Hey, hello, hello. (In an adorable English accent)
Me:   How are youuuuuuuu???!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Finnick:  Great, thank you.  How are you?  Are you the one getting married?
Me:  (Busting out laughing)  No!  I'm already taken!  (More laughter).  (Then I proceed to wave my left hand in the air like Beyonce does in her "Single Ladies" video.  Not good.)
Finnick:  Oh okay.  (Great smile).
Me:  So, are you still filming Catching Fire?
Finnick:  Yeah.....
Me:  And you'll be going to Hawaii soon to film, right??
Finnick:  Yeah.....(getting real nervous because he has just realized he's in the midst of a stalker)
Me:  Awesome!  (How annoying am I?)  Well, I'm a big fan of the Hunger Games and I am so excited for Catching Fire.
Finnick:  Great!  (Another great smile.)
Brooke:  Would you mind if I took your picture with Hayley?
Me:  Before Finnick could answer, "yes, that's a great idea!!!!!!!!!"
Finnick:  Not answering because I have just wrapped my arm around him and am holding on for dear life.  He's scared to death.
Me: After picture, "Mmmmm.....you smell good.  What do you have on?"
Finnick:  Oh, I'm not sure, just bits of everything.  (Great smile- eeeekkkkk!!)
Me:  Oh okay.  Well, congratulations on the movie!  You probably need to run, right?
Finnick:  Yeah, I kinda need to go.  Nice to meet...

And then he was surrounded again.  By my friends.  And me.  Another picture taken (well more like 4 pics taken as everyone was throwing their Iphones at a nice bar patron that offered to take the pictures).  Here's proof people:

Yay!!  How adorable are his dimples?  And hair??  Can we say Finnick OYeah??!
For those of you that have asked me (or are wondering), no, he does not have on a cape. (lol!)  He has on a red sweatshirt that he had tied at the top.  Why?  I don't know.  He's from England.  And you know what, he's hot.  If he wanted to wear a cape, he could wear a damn cape.  Ya feel me?

Did I mention he smelled delicious??!!

Here he is with the bar gang.  We're not excited or anything.

My face is about to crack from happiness.
So that's that.  We met him.  It was fabulous.  I'm still grinning.

However, none of this would have been possible without our bride.  My sweet, precious, wonderful friend, Jessica.  Jessica, is one of the best people I have ever known.  You know how you meet people in life and you connect immediately?  That's what it was like when I met Jessica.  She is the yin to my yang and I love her to pieces.  She is such a beautiful person, both inside and out, and deserves all the love and happiness in the world.  Cheers to you, my friend!!  The big day's almost here!!!

Thankful

Over the past week, many people on Facebook and Twitter have been posting what they are thankful for each day.  Although I am not posting about my thankfulness daily, I thought I would post some things I am thankful for today and every day.
  • I'm thankful for my son.  My sweet, happy, wild, adventurous, spirited, Thomas the Train-loving two year old.  Each day when I hear "Mommy" over that monitor, and I walk into his room and see him grin a huge Sponge Bob smile at me, I know that God gave me the best job on the planet.
  • I'm thankful for my hubby.  He loves me and our little family so much.  He works tirelessly to provide for us.  He is the smartest man I know.  He is the kindest man I know.  I often ask him, "What did you do before we met?  It must have been something awful." because, bless his heart, he got stuck with me (ha)!
  • To add to that, I'm thankful that my hubby has a great job that allows me to stay home with our son.  After going back to work for a very short period of time earlier this year, I realized that being home with our child is where I'm needed.  And for that, I'm thankful for the jobs I did have, because had I not taken those positions I would not fully appreciate being able to be a stay-at-home-mama!  With all of that being said, yes, if I were to have a great career where I made good money and truly loved what I was doing, I would be thankful for that opportunity.  I truly believe everything works out for a reason.
  • I'm thankful for parents that offer me and my family all the love and support that we need and my sister- the Tia to my Tamara!
  • I'm also thankful for my incredible friends.  It's true, the older you get the smaller your circle becomes.  However, my circle is beautiful, hilarious, fun, creative, loving, and I could not be more blessed for these relationships.
Okay, a thankful list would not be complete without some randoms so here goes:
  • I'm thankful for dry shampoo.  Without it, my day 2 hair would resemble KStew circa 2009:
(Image via: http://www.fanpop.com/spots/twilight-series/answers/show/35787/does-anyone-like-kristen-stewarts-new-hair-cut)

  •  I'm thankful for: RyGy, ASkars, and JHutch, and (lately) Adam Levine because you make my dreams so, SO sweet.
(Images courtesy of: thefashionisto.com, fanpop.com, twilightandtruebloodlovers.com, & wordsmoker.com)
  •  I'm thankful for weddings because without them we wouldn't have Bachelorette parties and without Bachelorette parties we wouldn't have a good excuse to listen to old-school Kilo Ali and wear feather boa's.
  • This week, I'm especially thankful for Mint Oreo Fudge Cremes as I have already consumed 3 of them.

That is all.....for today anyway. ;)  Happy Friday!!

Thoughts

I went to Tarjay today to pick up a few essentials and non essentials (shhh....Adam doesn't know.....yet).  Check out my loot:

Beige Lacy Dress

I'm thinking I'll wear this to Natalie's baby shower that I'm co-hosting Sunday afternoon.  It's short so I'll have to wear leggings/black tights underneath, but I'm thinking this with my new BCBG's and some fancy earrings.  What do you think?

Colored Tights
Eeeekkk!  I love these.  I love wearing tights/leggings, and hello??!  Colored tights/leggings??!!  A prissy girl's dream come true!!  Too much?  I'm thinking they will add oomph to a LBD or any solid dress for that matter.

And finally, above is the F21 dress that I'm planning on wearing to Jessica's Bach party Saturday night.  The whole shebang (minus the accessories).  How does it look?  Can you tell I'm majorly sucking in?  No Chick-Fil-A  (at least until next week), shawty!

A recap & an election

I'm freezing.  Are you?  I gave up on looking decent at 12:45 pm.  Went from jeans and wedges to sweat pants and an old GHS Bears sweat shirt.  So much better.

I couldn't bring myself to recap Walking Dead yesterday because I literally did not know what to say.  I still don't really.  FYI: If you haven't watched WD from this week and don't want to know any spoilers, you probably don't want to read any further......but hey, whatever floats your boat.
  • Lori gave birth and died.  How depressing is that?  I'm sad for Rick, for Carl, and especially for that baby.  What happens now?  She needs her mommy!  Rick killed me.  I felt so bad for Carl, but it seems like he's accepted his role in this new world better than anyone.  Carl usually gets on.my.last.nerve but he handled it like a man.  Rick....I don't even know what to say.  He wasted so much time being angry that he never really reconciled with his wife and now she's gone.  It just all feels so unresolved and hopeless.
  • T-Dog bit the bullet.  Well, he actually threw himself into a pack of zombies after being bit.  Bless it.  IronE Singleton (T-Dog....or should we say T-Pain) was on Talking Dead after the show and he shed a few tears.  Here's hoping T-Dog gets some work!  Now, where's Carol?
  • Glen and Maggie are obviously still getting it on.  Andrea is so going to hook it up with The Governor.  Who's next?  I vote for Darryl- country boys need loving, too!
That's it.  Next Sunday's episode should be interesting.  As far as Lori goes, I guess they kind've left it open for her to come back since we never saw her get shot on camera.  But, of course, that would totally be far-fetched.  Stranger things have happened...

So today's election day.  I voted a few weeks ago; Adam went and voted today.  It seems like every one's getting out and voting and that's encouraging.  I won't share my politics on my blog because it's not the place, but I will say I'll be so glad when the election is over and I can enjoy Facebook and Twitter again.

Peace out.

Weekend Review

This weekend has totally flown by.  Today I have done nothing.  Well, me and my boys went and indulged in Mexican for lunch and I grocery shopped, but other than that- nothing.  It's been fabulous.

Yesterday was busy.  Last night, me and three of my girlfriends hosted a couples shower for my friend, Jessica, who's getting married in December.  We also have her Bachelorette party in "The A" next weekend which I'm insanely excited about considering I haven't experienced a GNO on the town in quite awhile.  I am positive it will involve: lots of Spanx, a penis necklace and a crown, a dance-off of some sort, some drunk tears, and possibly some vomitage.

Anyway, the shower went off without a hitch.  The food was delish, the guests seemed entertained, and most importantly, the Bride and Groom were happy.  The only thing that was terribly embarrassing (of course, on my part) was when I mistakenly asked a guest if they were going to the Bachelorette party, and she had no clue what I was talking about.  Hello?  Social radar!  Stuck.foot.in.mouth.  I felt horrible....so I drank.

Here are some pics:

The hostesses w/ the Bride: L-R: Laura, Me, Jessica (The lovely Bride), Kristen, & Nicole
BTW, every time I say "Bride" do you think of "Franck" in FOTB?  I do.

Here are a few other pics of the evening.  One thing I learned after looking at the pictures: only tall and thin girls need to wear a dress that hangs straight down that while absolutely adorable (shop my friends boutique Ella Bleu- the clothes are amazing!) made me look like a chunky midget.  Here's proof:

Exhibit A: Me with Eric and Jessica.  Love the top of the dress.

Exhibit B: Me w/ both Jessica's (aren't they lovely?).  Should've worn heels instead of cowboy boots.  I look like a hobbit.

Exhibit C: Uhhh....not good.  Especially standing next to these hotties.
Moral of this story: I need waist definition in dresses.  Taking note.  Moving on.

I hope all of you have had a wonderful weekend!  If you get a chance, send my father-in-law, David, a positive thought.  He is an avid Dawgs fan, goes to every game, and is at every tailgate cooking up some yummy food for every body, every weekend.  Yesterday, while cooking up a low-country boil at the tailgate, accidentally walked in flip-flops through boiling water (that someone had poured out without him knowing) and got badly burned on his feet.  So bad in fact, that Athens ER rushed him via ambulance to the Augusta Burn Unit where he had surgery today.  :(  Positive thoughts/prayers appreciated!

Enjoy your evening!

This is my life

Happy Belated Halloween!

I meant to post yesterday, but I had a cooking disaster yesterday morning that has left my hand looking like this:

FYI: Never let me fry sausage patties....like never, ever.  I was channeling my inner Pioneer Woman yesterday morning: turning a rotisserie chicken into chicken salad, and thought "Hey, while you're at it, why don't you fry up those sausage patties in the fridge and make your own version of a Sausage McMuffin?"  Um, never again.  My inner voice told me this was a bad idea as soon as I put the skillet on the stove (always listen to your inner voice, people!).  As the sausage was frying I flipped a patty over and hot grease splashed all over my right hand (cue bloody murder scream).  I think I might need a skin graft.  Regardless, my career in hand modeling was over before it started.  Dammit.

So that little kitchen mishap kicked the day right on off.  I couldn't even take a shower and wash my hair because my hand was in so much pain.  I had to break out the ole' 80's shower cap, and bathe with my left hand...hilarity.  I'm going to tell you what I wore yesterday so you can have a good laugh: black velour pants (because I think I'm JLo circa 2002), a gray tank, a long white cardigan, brown Uggs, and my greasy, unwashed hair pulled back into a pink baseball cap.  Sexay.  AND, I wore this classy number all day yesterday.  Heck, I couldn't even wear makeup- just lipstick, because of this hand injury.  To add to all of the drama?  Sophie May had her annual Vet check-up yesterday afternoon (shots, etc) and a new Vet has taken over the practice, and he's HOT.  I mean like, "What are you doing in Forsyth, Ga hawt?!?"  I literally couldn't have gotten out of there faster.  I started breaking out in that horrible upper lip sweat I do when I get nervous, and my ears had turned a bright shade of tomato.  As a side note, whenever I'm in a situation where I'm nervous, anxious, excited, etc. my ears always turn a bright shade of red.  Never fails.  If I ever do run into ASkars he's probably going to run because it looks like I might spontaneously combust.  This is my life.

Anywho, my hand is better today and I can actually move it without feeling pain.  Aaron and I hit up the dreadful Walmart last night (Tip: if you go to Walmart on Halloween hardly anybody's there) and I got some good burn cream.  We ended up staying in last night.  Aaron had already done the "trick or treating" thing last weekend, Adam was working, and I honestly didn't feel like getting a 2 1/2 year old out in the mix.  I was bummed, but Aaron's still too young to understand what Halloween is.  I definitely think next year will begin the fun, door-to-door trick-or-treating that we loved so much as kids.  I ended up cooking a pot of chili, and catching up on Modern Family eps.  Not the best Halloween, but not the worst either.

This morning while the little tater tot was at preschool, me and my friend, Jessica, hit up Dillards, Belk, and DSW.  I was looking for some hot pumps for a Bachelorette party next weekend, and y'all I found them.....on clearance at DSW, nonetheless!

BCBG....originally $84.95 got them 30% off for $58.  Still a little bit too much, but they are BCBG, and I do need a pair of platform pumps as I don't have any.....I'm totally trying to justify this purchase and I can't.  It's frivolous and that's that.  I love them and if I don't bust my ass in them, they will be the best 58 bucks spent on shoes in a long time.

Alright, lovers.  Enjoy your day!
